Lipidex Review

|

From S.A.N. comes the fat burner Lipidex, and apparently 3 in 1 fat burner that is currently rated 10/10 of bodybuilding.com.

That said, most of the products I’ve researched on the top of BB.com’s list has always seemed to be somewhat lack in some areas – in my opinion anyway.

Lipidex itself is claimed to perform 3 functions:

  • Support Immunity
  • Build Muscle
  • Burn Fat

However as this product as not been approved by the FDA, how true that will depend on it’s ingredients and servings.

It’s interesting to see a fat burner that helps both the immune system and muscle growth. Maintaining muscle is possible on a fat burner, but making more is a different story – and I’m not sure Lipidex has what it takes to achieve it.

What’s also interesting about Lipidex is its use of softgel capsules, which alow it to use liquid ingredients which help it make all the difference.

About the Company

I’ve reviewed other products from SAN in the past, most notable SAN Tight, which turned out to be quite a disappointment – the product was essentially a huge proprietary blend.

SAN itself however, isn’t all that bad in terms of reputation. It offers a wide array of products to support anyone looking to live a more active lifestyle, regardless of fitness level.

All of the products have a 30 day money-back guarantee, but they must be purchased from the company website.

The Ingredients and how they work

The servings for Lipidex are a little over the top. If you’ve read my other reviews, you’ll know that I believe the more daily servings the better, this allows the body to constantly burn fat and continue losing weight.

Lipidex on the other hand offers one extra large serving of 6 capsules once a day with a meal. Chugging down 6 in one session is incredibly inconvenient, and I’m not sure the benefits will justify it. I imagine so many capsules are required as you need a higher dose with softgels. Plus the effects may wear off later in the day, as the body can only absorb so much at a time.

It looks like we’re off to a bad start.

I’m pleased with how the ingredients are presented though. There are no proprietary blends in this fat burner, every component is on display and we know exactly how much of each nutrient we’re getting – and by extension, how effective it’s going to be.

Let’s see what we’re dealing with here:

sanlipidexsuppfactsCLA Oil – I’ve never been a fan of Conjugated Linoleic Acid, mainly because not many studies vouch for its effectiveness. Claimed to help induce fat loss, and a common ingredient in ‘stimulant-free’ fat burners, CLA has been recorded to have hardly any effect on body composition.

A recent study found that 3200mg of CLA helped dropped body fat by a 1lb a month, when compared to placebo. It makes a difference, but the same could be achieved by minor tweaks to exercise and diet and probably produce better results over the time frame.

Borage Seed Oil – It seems like this nutrient is here to support the immune system. Although not a fat loss aid, BSO has been used in the past for it’s anti-inflammatory effects, which can help the body deal with skin disorders and rheumatologic diseases. However in the 1000mg serving that we get with BSO there’s a chance of adverse side effects – I’ll cover later.

Flaxseed Oil – Good for getting both Omega 3 and Omega 6 in your diet, which can help prevent high blood pressure and lower chances of heart disease or stroke risks. Again, not much to do with fat loss here more of an all over health booster.

Omega-3 Fish Oil Concentrate – Has been seen to reduce fatty acids, but mainly another all over health supplement. Fish Oil contains a rich supply of Omega 3 and 6 along with a good vitamin profile of A, D and K. It helps prevent diabetes, cancer and arthritis. Again, though, the fat loss here is not overwhelming.

As you can see, not a lot goes in Lipidex in terms of ingredients, but there are large amounts of each nutrient involved. It seems to be more of a health supplement categorizing itself as a fat burner.

Side Effects

The problem that I have with this product is the Borage Seed Oil, there’s 1000mg per serving, and that is enough to risk side effects.

There are some less concerning issues like that it may work as an anti-coagulant, prolonging bleeding time and bruising – but that only applies to people about to go into surger.

The real fears come from the oil giving liver damage due to some of the components in the oil being toxic. 1-2g of consumption can put 10ug of toxic UPAs in the blood stream, ten times what the safe consumption is limited to.

Also daily doses of 1,500 – 3,000 mg have also been seen to cause seizures in some users.

It’s a nutrient that in my honest opinion, is best avoided altogether.

Pros and Cons

Lipidex Review Conclusion

Overall, if you’re looking to lose weight and have come across Lipidex – I would suggest steering clear.

It’s main weight loss nutrient is almost ineffective with the difference it makes to body composition, with the other ingredients giving you the same benefits you get if you stacked Cod Liver Oil tablets onto your supps.

The serving schedule needs work too. One large serving a day will only make so much difference, and there’s a chance that some of it won’t get absorbed at all.

It’s reasoning behind it saying it can help build muscle is possibly because you won’t lose a of weight on it, but strength or shredding benefits on this product look negligible.

My advice? Take your money elsewhere and get a real supplement to get you shredded.
